Career Talk Blog | Resolve to Actually Use Military Family Resources in 2017!
We all know there are resources out there to support us as military families. Each military installation has family support offices, recreation services, education centers, childcare facilities and surely others that we just haven’t had time to learn about. Social media is flooded with helpful resources, webinars, events, and military spouse groups. Plus, there’s always the good old FRG system to help keep us connected. The biggest struggle is trying to find the right resource at the right time and knowing about it when we need it.
As you’re organizing your shiny new organizer for 2017, make a point to pencil in 10 minutes each week to learn about a military family resource that will help you.
Sometimes the biggest step toward accomplishing something is making it a priority. You may be surprised by the military resources that are available to make your military life easier.
Although we’re all military families, we have different needs so there are diverse resources available to us.
Whether you’re looking for college scholarships, job fairs, military spouse employment resources, childcare, recreation, wellness support or a library, your local installation has something for you. You can reach out directly to your local Army Community Service (ACS), Marine Corps Community Service (MCCS), Navy Fleet and Family Service (FFSC) or Air Force Family Advocacy Program (FAP) to find out what is available in your area for your branch.
The Major Group, Inc. has partnered with a number of education and employment resources to assist military spouses in using existing resources to build or grow their careers.
Military One Source, MyCAA grant funds, private scholarships, job boards with MSEP Partners, and mentoring through the Military Spouse eMentor program are just a few.
