May is Military Appreciation Month. During this month, Military Spouse Appreciation Day is recognized the Friday before Mother’s Day, so what better time to talk about some of the issues currently facing military spouses.
Military spouse employment, for a variety of reasons, is a hot topic in and outside of the military community. The Major Group has partnered with several organizations to help military spouses with their career pursuits, including the National Military Family Association (NFMA).
NMFA helps military families with many of their needs. Including partnering with The Major Group to promote quarterly military spouse scholarships for those looking to complete a career certification. And, as a bonus, the award will also cover the certification exam costs.
Why do I need a certification?
You’re probably asking yourself this question. You may already have a degree, or even years of experience. But if you are looking to move up in your career or start a new one, a nationally-recognized career certification can be the missing piece that puts your ahead of your peers and fellow job-seekers.
Professional certifications can increase earning potential, improve advancement opportunities, and add skills to your resume. They can be completed in about six months, which, for military spouses, can be the perfect time-frame to complete while your spouse is on deployment, extended TDY, or short PCS.
